How to Measure Honey Moisture
- Open the daylight plate and place 2-3 drops of raw honey onto the clean glass prism.
- Close the daylight plate gently so the honey spreads evenly across the prism surface without air bubbles.
- Point the prism towards a bright light source or natural light and look through the focusable eyepiece.
- Adjust the focus ring until the boundary line between light and shadow is sharp and clear.
- Read the moisture percentage directly from the blue/white horizon scale (aim for below 18-20% for UK honey bottling). Wipe prism thoroughly clean with damp cloth after use.
